Fourth of July Fun ~ 2011

Fourth of July weekend for the Rau's was a fun one. Greg was out of town from Friday to Sunday, so Saturday night, the kids and I went over to my parent's and spent the night. My parents had some neighborhood friends over and we enjoyed some BBQ, saw a fox eating a bunny rabbit in the neighbor's backyard and sang some old songs in the living room. (My parent's neighbor has tambourines, a banjo, some bongo drums and an awesome metal round tub with a string on it to thump. He brought it all over for everyone to use and we had such a great time singing some tunes like, "Sweet Georgia Brown," "She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain," "You Are My Sunshine," and "Old Susanna" to name a few.) My dad has great pictures of everyone. Maybe one day I will get those pictures up.

On the actual 4th, we went to the O'Fallon parade. It started out raining, but we found a great spot under a tree and it stopped raining as soon as the parade kicked off! Later in the evening, we had some friends over for a bbq and to watch the O'Fallon fireworks from our backyard. The kids enjoyed swimming, snacking and doing some little Firecracker snappers and confetti shooters. Evan and Leah actually watched the fireworks outside this year. Last year, they were too scared to enjoy them. They still used some earplugs, but I was so happy to watch them together this year!
