On Saturday the 1st, we celebrated Leah and Evan's birthday with family at our house. Thank you to all who came and helped us celebrate their special day. They received so many wonderful gifts and they have been so excited to play with all of their new toys and books. We opened gifts first. They both loved sitting on the packages and didn't really partake in tearing into the gifts. After dinner, it was time for cake. We sang, "Happy Birthday" and as we finished, Leah started crying uncontrollably. I guess she doesn't like to be the center of attention. We put their individual cakes in front of them to dig into and she didn't want anything to do with it. Evan dove straight in. However, he was very cautious at first. He poked his finger into the cake several times before he decided to get a handful. Papa had to show Leah what to do, but she still didn't want any part of this experience. So, we decided not to torment her anymore and gave them both a quick bath (not as much of a mess as I was expecting). They played with some toys as people said their good-byes and off to bed they went.
