We LOVE cereal!

The kids have been eating more and more cereal lately like it's the last time they will ever get some. This morning, for their "mid morning snack" (before mommy even was able to eat her breakfast!)...the kids wanted some cereal. I got out the half filled bag of cereal and gave each of them a small bowl full and then put the bag up on the countertop. I had left the room to attend to Leah in the living room and the next thing I heard was a couple pieces of cereal falling to the floor followed by the rest of the bag. Both of the kids faces looked like kids on Christmas Day! They were eating as many as they could while I was sweeping the rest up. Of course, I had to go get the camera and get some pictures first!

Mother's Day 2009

For Mother's Day, picked up Bread Co. for breakfast and then brought it back to our house, played outside with the kids, went for a walk and got things ready for my family to come over. We had a very relaxing afternoon with some BBQ, watching the Cardinals game and playing a fun game of Family Fued DVD.
It's sometimes weird to think of myself as a Mother. I hope that I can be the wonderful mother that Evan and Leah both deserve.

A beautiful day at the zoo

Saturday was beautiful, so we decided to take the kids to the zoo. They are becoming more aware of animals and the noises they make. Evan knows how to sign "lion" and he will even growl. Leah has been going through this phase where she doesn't like to sit in carts, strollers, high chairs, etc. So, we knew we were taking a chance when we strapped her in her single stroller. After we got halfway down the hill from our car, Leah just didn't want ANYTHING to do with sitting in the stroller. I mean she was standing straight up screaming, etc. We decided to turn back around and put the strollers back in the car. We then tried to have them ride in the double stoller that you can rent at the zoo...didn't want anything to do with that either. All I can say is I am SOOOOOOO glad they are able to walk now. Out of the three hours we were there, I think Greg and I carried them half of that. Our arms and backs are still killing us, but it was worth it. The kids had a blast and were very well behaved. They both were asleep as soon as we left Forest Park.

Updates....As of this morning, she still looked the same as yesterday. However; I was able to trick her into taking the Prednisone medicine this morning. As of about 3 p.m., the hives were mostly gone on her face, belly and back. She still has a lot on her diaper area and some on her arms, legs and feet. She has slowed down on the itching and has been showing signs of feeling better. I will be so happy when this is behind us!

Well, the hives are still covering her body from her scalp to her toes. I feel SOOO bad for her. She is constantly scratching her face and head with her blankie. She is absolutely miserable! She definitely won't take the medicine that will help stop the itching/hives. I have tried it in applesauce and juice. Thank goodness we go Friday to the doctor's so they can kind of follow up with her. Here are some pictures I took late yesterday and some from today.

18th Month B-day

I am going to preface this blog entry by telling you I took Leah back to the doctor this past Thurs. because she ended up having a mild fever of 101.4 in the afternoon on Wed. and was really tired and clingy. (two molars are also breaking through the gums now) The doctor said her left ear still looked inflammed and he would just prescribe her something else. She took a dose of her new medicine Friday and a dose Sat. morning.

~~Evan and Leah turned 1 1/2 years old today! And WHAT A DAY IT WAS!!! Our morning started at 5 am (Evan waking up and then falling back asleep until 6). I had to get up anyway at 6 a.m. to get ready for garage sale shopping with my mom. LOVE THE GREAT DEALS! As I am out and about on a gorgeous Sat. morning and doing well in Winghaven's sub. sale, Greg calls to tell me that Leah has red splotches all over her body. The rash was just like Evan's allergic reaction to Penicillin. After I got home, Greg said her rash was getting worse. So, the doctor's exchange line suggested taking Leah to Urgent Care. 2 hours later in the Urgent Care center, Leah was told she was definitely allergic to cyclosporine (?)

We came home, played outside, ate dinner and then decided we would chance it by going to Lowe's at 6:30 pm at night ~ 7ish is usually bedtime. Evan, of course, started winding down at the end of our trip to Lowe's.

We tried giving Leah some of her new meds. when we got home; which did NOT go so well. She normally doesn't mind taking medicine and will willingly open her mouth for me. However, one small squirt of one medicine and she immediately ran away from me crying. We ended up getting most of the 2 medications on my shirt, her shirt, in her hair and a little in her eye. Poor baby! Gave them a bath and off to bed they went. Hopefully she will sleep well through the night. Momma needs some sleep. Momma should have gone to bed already!! 10:30?!! Where does the night go?

This doctor's visit makes it 4 in two weeks for me with the kids!! And the kids have their 18 month checkup next Friday. Anyone want to pay the next co-pay? :)
