Pumpkin goo

Greg and I carved the kids' pumpkins as well as our big pumpkin tonight. We decided that we would stick with the whole Mickey and Minnie theme; since that is what Evan and Leah are going to be for Halloween. We just did the heads of Mickey and Minnie. They turned out okay. Those little lines/details can be so tricky!
Before we started carving the faces onto the pumpkins, we decided to let the kids play in the pumpkin goo that we had just scraped out. They had a great time feeling all the slimy stuff! Evan kept trying to eat it and Leah just slapped at it on the table. Here are some pictures of them playing in the goo. I will post pictures of our "Masterpiece pumpkins" later.

New Carseats

Due to the kids about to turn one years old and based on their length and weight, Greg installed the new carseats last night. He put them together yesterday and while he was working on them, the kids made a bee-line over to the seats and tried to sit in them. Today, I ran some errands with the kids (lots to get for the b-day party coming this Saturday!) and when I first put them in the seats, they started laughing and had huge smiles on their faces. Both seem to like the new seats and the new view from the backseat of the car. Here are some pictures of the kids before went about our busy day.

I'm a walkin too!

Evan has been walking for a couple of weeks now, but only a couple of steps at a time (and sometimes on his tippy toes) and then he would fall to the floor. He is now walking longer distances and doing better at not always walking on his toes. SO!.....now the fun has REALLY BEGUN! I do just love watching them walk to me with a big smile on their face and it's a bonus when I hear, "Mum, mum, mum...."

Copycat

The other day Leah was in the mood to copy Greg. Not sure what possessed Greg to do this, but it was funny.

Watch out...I'm a walkin!

Leah has finally mastered the art of walking. Waking is all she wants to do now. She is definitely not afraid to let go of the wall, couch, or us and start taking off on her own. Before, I had a least 30 seconds to a minute to get to the tree or whatever object she was not suppose to get ahold of. Now, I have half that time. What am I going to do when Evan master's the art of walking? Of course he will go in the other direction! Greg and I say our house is starting to look like we just moved in. We have taken plants/trees downstairs and all of the picture frames and cute knick-knacks are put away until the kids are older.

On Saturday, we took the kids for their first Pumpkin Patch experience to Rombach's Farm. We went with our friends, Greg and Jackie Thies and their daughter, Peyton. Kyle and Rachel Laramie also went and brought their twins, Drew and Blake.

I had made the kids' onesies for Halloween and really wanted them to wear them to pick pumpkins in as well. I knew they were going to be a little warm in long sleeve, but it was too warm for Evan! He fussed and fussed until I took his pants off, then he was much better.

I got some great shots of Leah and Evan as well as the twins with Peyton, Blake and Drew. What a nice "Fall" afternoon!

We are 11 months old today!

Our babies are now 11 months old. Time is flying by! Over this past month, they have been surprising Greg and I everyday with new things they are learning. They have both been able to wave for a month or so, but in the past few weeks, we've noticed they are now associating the hand motion to the phrase, "Bye, Bye." Both are not afraid to let go of furniture or whatever they are holding onto and take off on their own walking. Leah is a little more advanced when it comes to walking, but Evan is trying to not be outdone by his "little sister." When we say, "Throw the ball," Evan will throw the ball with his left hand (Greg is excited that Evan has been consistently throwing it with his left hand. He's hoping that he will be a left-handed major league pitcher someday.) They both also put play telephones up to their ears and babble into the phone. It's too cute to watch! They chase each other around the house (as you maybe have seen in the prior post videos). Leah and Evan have tried eating more adult foods like hamburger pieces, rice, toast with butter, and chicken to name a few. Greg and I are excited that we will be saving a significant amount of money after their first birthday due to them being able to start drinking milk instead of smelly formula! We go through a large container of formula (from Costco) in about a week. Just one of those is $28.00 and we usually buy two at once. Thanks to those who have given me Similac coupons.....every little bit helps!

Their one year birthday will be a Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme. Both of the kids LOVE Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and their favorite part is the "Hot Dog" song at the end of the show. It doesn't matter where they are in the house; when they hear the song, their faces just light up. I thought it would be cute to have them be Mickey and Minnie Mouse for their first Halloween! I can't wait to see them in their costumes.
