Fun With Papa

Here are a couple of pictures of the kids with my dad (Papa). My dad is awesome and is going to help finish our basement, so two of the pictures are of Evan and my dad measuring and marking where the walls will be. {Evan loves the fact that his little tape measure "Match, Matches" Papa's tape measure.}
The other picture is a cute one I took of the kids building a choo-choo with Papa. Too funny to watch! What a great sport Papa is!!

Shh...we're hunting for eggs!

You would think this is a picture of Leah whining because the egg hunt was over, but she was actually wanting to go play on the playground.

Today was our church's Easter Egg Hunt. We had our friends, Kyle and Rachel and their twins- Drew and Blake meet us up there to join in on the fun. The kids ate cookies, made crafts and then they were able to hunt for eggs. Evan and Leah liked picking up the eggs this year. Last year they both watched other kids and were more into playing with the air-conditioner and a hose on the side of the church!
Leah ended up decorating her carseat with the stickers she received in one egg (nice!) on her ride home. We did have one meltdown because there was some candy they couldn't eat, but this year they did know what a tootsie roll and chocolate eggs were and were excited to eat those.

I Miss You!

So, on Tuesday the kids usually go to a Mother's Day Out Program at a church and I enjoy my day (well, most Tuesdays are filled with going to the grocery store and running errands- not my ideal of enjoying the day). Yesterday was the first time I had just one child go to school and one have to stay out for the day. Poor Leah is at the tail end of her virus and has had wonderful diapers for Mommy. She had two diarrhea diapers before we even left the house and then one when we got to school. So, needless to say, she had been asked to stay out for the day. This was probably the longest they have been away from one another (6 hours). I was pleasantly surprised to not get a phone call asking me to pick up Evan due to him being upset because when we left, he was on the floor sobbing.
I realized while we were at school, that I didn't have any wipes with me, but I luckily had diapers in her backpack. Our first stop was Target and wouldn't you know it, while going inside she had another dirty diaper! I stocked up on wipes (and will now leave a pack in the car), etc. and we ran to a couple other places.
Throughout the entire day she asked about Evan and said, "Miss Bubby." Bless her heart.
She was very excited to pick up Evan and ran into the building. The teacher informed me that Evan settled down rather quickly after we left and he did ask about Leah periodically throughout the day, but did well being apart from her. As we were walking to the car, I asked Evan if he missed Sissy and he said, "I miss you, Weah!"
That was too cute, but not what melted my heart. What pulled at my heartstrings was when we were home and I was inside, the kids outside painting in the backyard, and I overheard Evan say to Leah, "Weah, I miss you!" Totally not prompted to say anything to her.

They say that most twins are pretty close. They do have their moments of fighting, but absolutely love being with one another. Best Friends!

Bubby = Funny!

(Bubby, is the nickname Leah had given to Evan a long time ago and it's stuck with him.)
Tonight, Bubby made a funny. Greg and I put the twins down for bed and about 15 minutes later, we heard the gate to the entrance to their bedroom moving around and I figured they were possibly crawling under one corner (it's wedged funky); which they have done once or twice before. Greg came around the hallway corner and asked them what they were doing. They both had half of their pajamas off along with their diapers and were announcing very proudly that they crawled under the gate and got out of their room. I met them all at the end of the hallway and tried my best to refrain from laughing because I wanted be the stern mother who tells them, "BACK TO BED NOW!" However; both kids went straight for their potty chairs and sat down. Greg kept telling them, "This isn't funny. You need to go to bed!" Evan's response was, "I crawled under gate. Bubby funny!" This was followed by a nice cackle from Evan. Greg and I couldn't hold it in any longer- we busted up with laughter!
This picture was taken when he was 8 1/2 months old. He was trying to figure out how to escape the crib.

Ahh, our little escapees!

Light at the end of the tunnel?

I have to first say that I typed this entry on Friday night and have since revised it due to Leah.

With that said...Evan has been so sick this past week. Tuesday he ended up throwing up a total of 5 times and ended up with a fever of 102. Wed. and Thurs. seemed to be better, but then Thurs. night at dinner, he looked he was in a scene from the Exorcist where she throws up the green stuff. (However, his was mostly water mixed with a bit of licorice {yes, he had one strand of licorice the other day}.) Poor thing. It just kept coming and coming and coming-quite a lot from such a little thing. Friday he seemed a little better. Whiny and tired looking, but better.

I have also been sick this week. I am thinking I have Bronchitis. I have had the chills, my throat and ears hurt, I have a lovely croupy cough and I have almost completely lost my voice. Thank goodness for Dr.s who fill a prescrip. with not seeing you!

Greg surprised us Friday morning by taking the day off work. Although we would have loved to have taken a family trip to the zoo on such a gorgeous day, we opted to do something close by. We took the kids to the park and ate lunch (our first picnic together). Evan saw a family flying a kite and kept saying, "Kite Daddy!" So, we headed home to fly our kite that we have never opened. Not the greatest day for flying a kite, but amused the kids some. Both kids seemed fine throughout, took their naps and ate just a little bit for dinner. However; last night as Greg and I were watching a movie, I heard Leah coughing and eventually start throwing up. I ran in there to see her sitting up, crying and throwing up. Evan woke up to see what all the fuss was about, but went back to sleep. I guess he figured, 'Been there, done that, NIGHT!'
We took her in the kitchen, got her undressed and redressed and she threw up again. We took those jammies off and put new ones on her, brought her in the living room, watched a little more of the movie and she threw up again! So, once more, we changed her jammies and brought her in bed with us. (lots of great smelling clothes for the washing machine!)
She slept off an on through out the night and threw up about 2 more times. This morning, Evan woke up crying with a diarrhea diaper for Mommy, I changed him and brought him into bed with us for about another hour. About an hour after we were up, Evan became very irritable and complaining that his stomach hurt. I ended up making him a Dr.'s appt. because this was the 5th day of really bad diapers and he was in so much pain! Right before we went to the Doctor's, he ended up giving us the MOTHERLOAD of all poopy diapers! I think he felt so much better then. Doc said to keep them on a toast, etc. diet and just hydrate! Greg and I are hoping we don't get sick as well.

Hoping that all of you are able to keep healthy!! :)

Cousins

Relaxing with cousins
hand puppets with Leah

Cuteness!!
First time Greg held Cora- (we will always remember the first thing she did when he held her.....let one RIP in his hands!!! :) )

This past weekend, Evan, Leah and Greg finally got to meet Baby Cora. All week long, the kids talked about Cora and couldn't wait to meet her. Leah was going to, "walk with Baby Cora, play dollies and read books" with her. I took the kids over to my parents' house (where my sister, etc. stayed for the weekend) on Friday morning. The kids did exactly what I thought they were going to do. They looked, smiled, and giggled at Cora, then asked for the toys to be brought out and they were off playing on their own! We got to see alot of Cora this past weekend and we loved every minute of it. We sure do miss her and can't wait to see her again.

My Little Martians

Leah decided it was time to find a new toy in the house (because we JUST DON'T HAVE ENOUGH-HA!) and found an inflatable raft for the pool in the hall closet. The kids decided to play with it today by putting balls and other toys in the middle of it and used it as a parachute (like I remember doing in gym class when I was little-where you put balls, etc. in the middle and shake the parachute). They then decided it would be a great fashion statement and put it on over their heads. I had to put this on the blog because they reminded me of little martians and it just made me laugh!
